RULES/SCORING
YCADA’s custom scoring system ensures championships run on time and scores are accurate. This innovative scoring system was the first in the cheer and dance industry and nothing can top it! We’re excited for our YCADA Judges to use this amazing technology! Judges will represent various parts of the industry so that style differences will be balanced in evaluating performances.
See the YCADA Globals Rules & Scoring Packets for more details on the rules and scoring process. Please visit the YCADA Globals Event Page for complete Rules and Scoring Packet for both Affiliated and Non-Affiliated teams. (See below to determine your team’s status.)
All rules’ questions should be submitted through the ASK A RULES QUESTION FORM.
EVENT PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE
Performance schedules are determined by the number of registered teams. All teams registered by the deadline will be put into a random algorithm that will determine performance order. Teams that register after the on-time deadline - will be placed in performance order at the beginning of the division. Team performance schedules will also be posted on the web and emailed to the registering coach. Coaches will also receive a copy of the performance schedule at the time of ‘Coach Check-in’. All times are subject to change. We appreciate your patience.
Please share this information with your parents:

NON-AFFILIATED (NA) SAFETY & ELIGIBILITY RULES
One of the most important duties of an organization involved in the administration and production of competitive cheerleading and dance events is to ensure that there is a level playing field on the cheer mat or dance floor. This importance is only surpassed by the importance of the safety of our athletes in their participation in the sport of cheerleading and dance. NA organizations and programs are independently created entities that are primarily responsible for ensuring that their athletes are free from potential safety risks. The following rules will be enforced by YCADA Globals officials at the 2025 YCADA Globals.
Non-Traditional Youth & Recreation Teams (NA) Safety and Eligibility Rules for YCADA Globals
-
All Head Coaches, Advisors, or Owners should have access to and can produce if requested within 24 hours of request by YCADA Competition Officials, age verification documents for all competing athletes in digital format, paper format, or other online accessible website/cloud storage location. The following options will qualify as acceptable age verification documents for all NA athletes:
Option 1: Government-issued photo ID which includes the athlete’s birth date
Option 2: Any government or 3rd party organization issued record identifying the athlete’s birth date and name of the athlete as well any 2nd document which IDs the athlete through photo identification and the athlete’s name. -
Proof of Executed Background Check of all Coaches and Employees that attend YCADA Globals and receive a Coach wristband. Since NA programs are independent organizations, it is up to the independent organizations to determine if the results of a coach/employee background check pose a safety risk to athletes.
-
Proof of Certificate of Completion of the California Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Online General Training Course by all Coaches and Employees that attend YCADA Globals and receive a Coach wristband. The California Child Abuse Mandated Reporter General Training Course is available Online for Free at: https://mandatedreporterca.com/. If your NA Program is not based in California, you may still take this course for free or choose an alternative mandatory reporter course provided by your state/local government or child welfare organization. Please see the following links for more information on mandatory reporting courses available in your state: https://www.childwelfare.gov/organizations/?CWIGFunctionsaction=rols:main.dspList&rolType=Custom&RS_ID=162&rList=ROL
-
Proof that all Coaches and Employees that attend YCADA Globals and receive a Coach wristband are not currently on any Unified Ineligibility List from the USASF, USA Cheer, or Safesport Centralized Disciplinary Database.
Penalties for failing to have and produce any of the following requirements under the Non-Traditional Youth & Recreation Teams (NA) Safety and Eligibility Rules for YCADA Globals when requested by a YCADA Globals Competition Official could include up to disqualification of the NA team or organization from the YCADA Globals Competition.
Additional Items
A complainant team protesting another team based upon potential violations of the Non-Traditional Youth & Recreation Teams (NA) Safety and Eligibility Rules for YCADA Globals or falsification of age must first produce evidence equating to reasonable suspicion that an athlete on the suspected team is outside the allowable age restrictions for that division or the team, individual, or program is in Violation of the Non-Traditional Youth & Recreation Teams (NA) Safety and Eligibility Rules for YCADA Globals.
-
The complainant team must also have available their own team's verification records as outlined in the NA Safety and Eligibility Rules for YCADA Globals.
-
The Complainant team claiming falsification of age must put down a $200 deposit, refundable only if the suspected team is found to be in violation of the allowable age restrictions for the division they have entered. If no violation is found the $200 deposit will be donated to the National Special Olympics.
-
If the complainant team is accusing another team, individual, or organization is in violation of #2, #3, or #4 of the Non-Traditional Youth & Recreation Teams (NA) Safety and Eligibility Rules for YCADA Globals no deposit is required as long as the claim rises to the level of reasonable suspicion.
FREE MANDATORY GLOBALS ROUTINE REVIEW
MANDATORY - All teams must send a video of their routine to be reviewed for Safety and Levels Rules Legalities before YCADA Globals, for FREE! After video review, teams will be contacted by the YCADA Rules Team regarding any violations or to
certify the routine as legality free. Routines that are certified as legality free are guaranteed that they will not receive a
legality deduction at YCADA Globals, as long as the skills are performed the same as on the video submission. Any links to videos teams submit must remain active throughout the conclusion of YCADA Globals in order to verify videos against actual skills performed at the event.
Videos will not be reviewed for execution deductions, time limit deductions, or music violations. Remember, Routine Legality
Review Submission is the ONLY way to GUARANTEE your routine is Safety Violation Free. YCADA WILL NOT withdraw any rules
violations because a rules judge at a prior competition, regional, championship, camp or event failed to detect or discover the
violation at the previous event- there are no exceptions made to this policy.
Globals Routine Review will open on December 15, 2024
-
Deadline to submit video: January 19, 2025 - Submit by 11:59pm PST
-
Routine Legality Review Cost: FREE

Will allow additional time for entry and exit. One additional free adult volunteer wristband per athlete. May have full adult assistance on stage during performance if needed.
YOU CAN COMBINE YOUTH-AFFILIATED TEAMS
If some team members from your ‘regular season’ cannot attend Globals, you may elect to combine your team with another team PROVIDING:
-
Teams are from the SAME Youth organization (ex. Starbucks Junior Pee Wees & Starbucks Pee Wees)
-
ALL team members (from the combined teams) are listed on the official Youth League Roster from the prior season. No additional team members can be added from ‘outside’ teams.
-
The team is entered in the appropriate division based on the age of the oldest team member of the combined teams.
DIVISIONS ARE NOT GUARANTEED
-
COMBINING DIVISIONS: At YCADA Globals, if there is only one team registered in a division at the time the draft schedule is created, that division will be combined with another division within a two-year age gap (providing other divisions are present, i.e., if Division 10 Cheer Level 1 only has 1 team registered, they will be moved to Division 11 Cheer Level 1). If there is not another age division within a two-year age gap, there will be no change.
-
YCADA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO COMBINE/DELETE DIVISIONS BASED ON PARTICIPATION. For teams in upper-level youth divisions: If there is a lack of participation in the selected division – your team may be required to omit the element(s) allowed under the upper-level youth divisions and move to a lower level. Example: Tic Toc stunts allowed in YCADA Level 4 division must be omitted to abide by YCADA Level 3 rules. Coaches will be notified of this type of division change PRIOR to competition.
WHEN DO DIVISIONS SPLIT
-
SMALL/LARGE DIVISIONS: At YCADA Globals teams will compete based on age and skill level (as listed in the divisions). After registration is complete, divisions may be split into small and large based on equal distribution of small and large teams.
-
If there are TEN (10) OR MORE TEAMS IN A DIVISION, YCADA reserves the right to split into small and large. Small and large numbers will be determined by the natural break. Natural break is calculated by finding the average athlete number of the teams in that division and splitting accordingly. A minimum of 3 teams must clearly fall within the large and small break.
-
After splitting into small/large, if more than 12 teams fall to one side, the division will be split into small, medium, and large by dividing the division into thirds (while keeping “like athlete numbers” in the same division). The natural break is calculated using the original number of participants registered.
-
Once the draft schedule is published, the boundaries of the split divisions are set for the event. You may only add athletes up to the split boundary maximum listed for your division stated on the draft schedule. You may drop athletes as necessary; however, your team will remain in the same division as posted on the draft schedule even if the adjusted number of athletes would qualify your team for the smaller division. YCADA reserves the right to move or keep any team within a division or category.
AGE CHECKING/ELIGIBILITY
Registered Coaches of teams may question/lodge a complaint regarding the age and/or eligibility of another team’s athlete. The request to verify or check the age or eligibility of another team must occur before the close of the competition day. No verification of the athlete will occur between the “POINT OF NO RETURN” * and the team’s performance on the competition floor. However, a team may be questioned regarding their athlete’s eligibility either before the “POINT OF NO RETURN” * and after a team’s performance. Only registered coaches of a team may lodge a complaint against another team regarding age/eligibility. The team lodging the complaint must have verifiable evidence to support their claim and will be REQUIRED to present proof of their team’s age and eligibility. Only YCADA event officials may question or investigate a team’s eligibility. All teams should have proper unaltered and clear copies of the Birth Certificates or government issued IDs of ALL athletes that are on the roster for ALL YCADA EVENTS. Failure to have such identification and/or proof of age could lead to a team’s disqualification.
*POINT OF NO RETURN indicates a visible line backstage where questions will no longer be answered from onsite YCADA officials.
RULES VIOLATIONS/POINT DEDUCTIONS
Registered coaches of a team may request a review of another team’s level rules or general safety rules violations only within 24 hours of the completion of the competition day. A rival team MAY NOT request the review of another team’s routine for execution point deductions because those deductions are based on the human eye and are not reviewable for adding additional deductions not viewed live. Registered coaches may request a review of their own team’s execution point deductions/rules violations up to 24 hours after the completion of the competition. However, please be aware any review of your point deductions/ rules violations may result in your team being awarded additional violations that were not viewed during the “live” performance if the video review discovers deductions not originally placed on your team. If the awards ceremony has already been completed and a team is given additional level rules violations or general safety rules violations based upon a lodged complaint within 24 hours of the close of the competition day, then placements of teams may be altered ONLY if it effects the Top 3 teams in a division. Nevertheless, YCADA will not strip any team of a global championship or top 3 placement once it has been awarded on stage but instead reward dual placements or co global champions to teams in that division. These rules violations/ point deductions review complaints must be lodged within 24 hours of the completion on the competition day. All complaints should be lodged in person with the YCADA Event Director at Globals or by emailing rules@ycada.org within 24 hours of the close of a competition day.
LEVEL & DANCE RULES VIOLATIONS EXPLANATION
ALL COACHES AND ADVISORS should be aware that level rules and general safety violations are judged live by the rules judges on site during a live competition. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a rules judge to 100% detect all violations during a competition day just as it is impossible for officials/referees to detect all violations in other sports.
HOW TO HANDLE PROCEDURAL QUESTIONS
-
RULES & PROCEDURES - Any questions concerning the rules or procedures of the competition will be handled exclusively by the advisor/coach of the team and will be directed to a Championship Event Director. Such questions should be made prior to the team’s competition performance.
-
PERFORMANCE - Any questions concerning the team’s performance should be made to the Championship Event Director immediately after the team’s performance and/or following the outcome of the competition.
REASONS FOR DISQUALIFICATION
Teams with illegal athlete(s) will be disqualified. Reasons for disqualification include but are not limited to inappropriate choreography/music (at the discretion of a YCADA official); severe demonstrations of unsportsmanlike conduct by athletes, coaching staff or fans; overage athlete(s); more or less athletes than allowed on the floor; athlete(s) not listed on official league roster; unregistered athletes on the floor; and/or illegal athlete(s) listed on official league roster. Teams registering and performing in incorrect divisions will be disqualified.
DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, YCADA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY ANY TEAM.
